The success of their senior team, Kanigara Banu who won first place in the CIOB global competition in 2019 triggered junior CSID researchers as juniors to follow in the footsteps of seniors to compete in the global CIOB 2020 event. Guided by senior CSID researcher Mustika Sari and directed by CSID Director of the University of Indonesia Mohammed Ali Berawi, PhD; CSID junior researchers, Agatha Vania Salim, Gabriel Reyes, M. Khaerun Zuhry, and Dame Satrio formed the “Sang Nenggala” Team to take part in the CIOB 2020 competition for 3 months.
CIOB is the competition utilises MERIT, an online game which simulates the management of a construction company. The participants enter as a team of four, and they’ll be tasked with managing their own virtual construction company. Each participant in the team has their respective roles, including the Financial Manager, Overheads Manager, Construction Manager and Estimating Manager. During the game, each team will be given data and graphs to help them analyse company performance, including client information, value of contracts, company financials, share price, investments, turnover, profit, value, overheads, staff & agency, capacity and training costs.
There are six weekly rounds in the Early Years stage of the competition. Each team will be scored each week against Key Performance Indicators, including Gross Profit to Turnover ratio, Operating Profit to Turnover ratio, Company Value, Share Price and Client Satisfaction. This score will determine their position with the overall competition rankings.
In the competition the Sang Nenggala Team managed to become the top six teams finalists and succeeded to occupy the runner-up position. Congratulations to the Sang Nenggala Team!
