CSID AUN-SCUD Collaborated with the University of Turku on the Finnish-ASEAN Academic Platform for Sustainable Development (FAPSU) Project

Jakarta and Depok, December 15-16, 2022

On December 15 and 16, 2022, the CSID AUN-SCUD team, lead by Prof. Mohammed Ali Berawi, held a meeting with the Turku University team under the coordination of Dr. Outi Luova. We discussed collaboration with the Centre for East Asian Studies (UTU) and the Finnish University Network for Asian Studies to develop education that promotes sustainable development in Southeast Asia. Co-development of one online course focused on sustainable urban development in Asia. Combine the aspects of engineering and social sciences into teaching about sustainable infrastructure development. Making the online course to teachers in other universities of the AUN-SCUD network. That would increase the impact of the project.

Long-term goal: multidisciplinary collaboration between Finnish and ASEAN universities.

The main concrete short-term actions:

• creating jointly two online courses in sustainable development
• joint special issue
• contributing to the development of “sustainable cultural industries” as a new theme within the AUN

CSID AUN-SCUD researchers prepared lecture materials as the outputs of the project. The lectures’ theme is ASEAN strategies for infrastructure and urban development in Southeast Asia (1), Sustainable urban planning in Indonesia (2), Relocation of the capital (3), and Smart city plans in Southeast Asia/Indonesia (4).
